    Description

Test Cut & Chop marked Mexico 8 Reales Cob with weight of 26.9 grams . A really nice cob with amazing history. This coin fortunately survived its circulation in the orient evident from the merchant test cut & counter stamps. Each merchant would have applied their own unique mark ( These marks varied in shape design & size ) Next the coin was closely inspected for silver content ( test cut or ring test ) Followed by verifying correct weight of cob for it's denomination ( certified by scales approved by merchants counter mark )  The silver or gold currency was then traded for spices or whatever other commodity the Spanish were seeking to barter for to load the ship and travel home with. I always appreciate one like this that has survived and made its way back and into a collectors hands. Many of these coins were melted down over the years. Grading is based greatly on opinion so please look at the pictures and grade for yourself. As always the coin you see is the coin you will receive shipped by the United States Postal service insured priority mail. Thanks for looking 👍👍 ii and feel free to make a offer close to asking will be considered.
