Description
RS232-to-TTL Interface 0.7" iMod Module, RJ45 Connectorim232P-TBP
The im232P is an RS-232 interface module. It converts TTL logic levels to RS-232 interface levels, and vice versa. It has an operating voltage of 3.0V to 5.5V, low power consumption, and is ESD protected up to 15kV. It enables 3.3V and 5V devices (e.g., a microcontroller) to communicate via the standard RS-232 protocol. It uses the Sipex SP3232EEN RS-232 transceiver chip.
This module makes the five pins (0V, TX, RX, RTS, CTS) available via a 5-pin, 3.5mm Terminal Block connector; a plug-in block with screw terminals is included. The connections are marked on the PCB.

iMod Pin Configuration
This is an
iMod
module with 0.7" pin column width, meaning it uses a standard pinout and configuration that allows it to be connected easily to any host board that has an iMod port. This includes the Modtronix
SBC83I
,
SBC66UAL
, and the various
PT66E
Prototyping Add-ons for other boards in the SBC66 series.
The pin pitch is 0.1" so you can use the module also on any typical prototyping board or breadboard.

Pin Header Options
Use the
Headers
option at the bottom of this page to select what type of pin headers you want included with the module and whether you want them included loose or pre-soldered. The default option is for common rectangular pins included
loose
(the photo above shows them soldered). All pin header types use 3mm long pins. The header strips will be five pins for one side and two for the other, as seen in the photo.
Below the header option selector, you will see checkboxes for adding additional header strips (e.g. in case you want to populate all five pin pads on both sides) as well as socket strips that will mate with the Round Swiss pin header type. If you want to install the socket strips on your prototype so that you can plug in this module with Round Swiss pins, make sure to change and
Update
the quantity of sockets
to
2
during checkout. (While a 5-pin socket is not available as a separate item, you can break off one pin from the 6-pin sockets to make them into 5-pin sockets.)
As this module only actually uses seven pins (5+2), you could save money by getting just one 8-pin strip and break it down, so those strips are listed below also.
