Description

Raspberry Pi GPIO Breakout Board Kit (Pi Wedge)
KIT-12652
The Pi Wedge is a small board that connects to the Raspberry Pi's 26-pin GPIO connector and breaks out the pins to a breadboard-friendly arrangement and spacing. It also adds a couple of decoupling capacitors to the power supply lines. The Wedge makes the initial bring-up process easier; you can plug a
USB-to-Serial 3.3V Module
into the built-in serial port so you can monitor the serial line.
The Pi Wedge comes as an easy-to-assemble kit that can be inserted into your Raspberry Pi's GPIO port that allows you to prototype as soon as you are done soldering. It is compatible with both the RPi Model A and B (some addressing changes if using Model A; see the user manual) and any solderless breadboard (provided it has the adequate number of pins available).
Assembled Pi Wedge connected to Raspberry Pi and Mounted on Breadboard:
The Pi Wedge reorganizes the I/O pins from the RPi to a more sensible arrangement, putting similar functions on adjacent pins. The SPI, I2C and UART signals are all grouped near each other. This will make prototyping much easier than if you were to plug jumper wires straight into the RPi's GPIO header.
