    Description

Offered: Original equipment Golding & Co. Jobber No. 6 (8' x 12') cast iron Letterpress name plate.
This is an original equipment cast iron name plate. In good condition, name plate has a broken/ cracked off piece at mounting hole on left side. No repair has been attempted, as-it-is plate can still be mounted and will stay in place. When this plate was removed from the press it appears crack was already present. When mounting bolt was removed, cracked off piece came off with mounting bolt.
The name plate has the following information cast into the plate:
    GOLDING & CO.             GOLDING                                  PATENTED
    PRINTING                                                                 UNITED STATES
    MACHINE WORKS                      - 1902 -                             ENGLAND
    BOSTON - MASS                                                                FRANCE
    U-S-A                                          JOBBER                 GERMANY
This is a hard to find item! To my knowledge all Golding Jobbers regardless of size had a similar name plate with the production year cast into its center. The city changed from Boston to Franklin MASS in 1906 when there Boston factory proved to be not large enough to keep up with demand. Golding did keep the Boston location open as a showroom showroom after the factory moved to Franklin, Mass. All models show that show Boston were built prior to 1907.
Even if you do not own a Golding Co. Jobber Press this is one very cool name plate. You can always mount this name plate on you shop wall.
Plate measures eleven inches long long 11" x
    1 5/8" tall x 1/8" inches thick.
    Mounting holes are
    approximately
ten inches and nine sixteenth inches 10 9/16" apart, center to center.
