    Description

    10 lbs MEDIUM RED CLOVER
    Trifolium pratense
    Approximately 2,750,000 seeds in 10 pounds, inoculated seed, may be coated
    Medium Red Clover is used for wildlife food plots, pet food, pasture, nitrogen adding green manure, and as a ground cover.
    Red clover will grow and usually thrive without following the instructions to the letter.  The seed will grow if planted like grass seed, good ground contact is all that is needed for germination, leave un-covered, barely cover with soil or cover with straw to keep the birds form eating it.  Do not plant during hot/dry weather, the seeds need adequate moisture to germinate. This clover grows in full sun to partial shade, grows 12-36 inches tall.   Easy to plant, plant generally like grass seed, broadcast 10 lbs. or more seed per acre.  After broadcasting seed, hand rake in gently, or use a cultipacker or some type of heavy roller to roll over field. This presses seed into ground and helps insure better seed to soil contact and good germination. If no cultipacker or roller is available, do not pull a fence-type drag over seed since this may cover the seeds too deeply. Do not cover seed more than 1/4 inch. Do Not disc seed into the ground, planting too deep with inhibit growth.
    Maintenance Instructions;
    Red Clover is a legume capable of producing heavy growth. Depending on your deer and wildlife population and/or how much you plant, you may choose to mow your clover with bush hog to clip the weeds and clover down to about 4-6 inches, if not already eaten to that height, it will promote new tender growth on the clover. Spring and early fall are the best times to fertilize, being a legume it does not need nitrogen, use a low or no nitrogen fertilizer.
    Red Clover prefers a ph level of 6.2 to 6.8
