Description
A awesome shipwrecked cob likely from the Musi River Shipwreck. This cob is a 1730's partially dated 4 reales from the Mexico City Mint, with full OMF visible, and first 3 digits of date "173-". This cob has a Madura Island countermark meaning that it was traded over the Pacific by the Spanish. It was carried by a galleon through the South Pacific and was traded to the Asians for goods such as spices and tin. A awesome example of a countermarked Spanish cob, with a full assayer mark and partial date!
